The Handmaid's Tale

Wife of commander, praying for her handmaid to conceive

Fictional drama plot: in a totalitarian country where a military runs the country with total control and requires subservience. Fertile women were held prisoners and had to serve their commanders by carrying out their duties to bear children for the family they are assigned to. Systematic brainwash, peer pressure, threats carried out (death) should the handmaids dare to disobey. Memories from their earlier lives kept some of the handmaids going; they had original families- husbands and children of their own. They are determined to preserve their sanity and work on a chance to make an escape.
