New bike in town

Dinner Gathering

We gathered for dinner last evening, celebrating in advance WY's wedding next month.
Unfortunately, Kiki still had her resistance when it comes to socializing with my cousins.
The only response she made was to wave good-bye. Other than that, all she did was cry. I guess I really ought to step up with my efforts to integrate her socially and hope that she learns to enjoy gatherings more next time.

21st May 2011

Last Sunday, we went Lucky Plaza to bank some money into Maricar's savings as well as transmit some money to her family as school was beginning in June and the children need some pocket money too. The place is so darn crowded and noisy, you really won't be able to imagine till you've experienced it. It's more crowded then Little India if you know what I mean.

While waiting in the long queue, Kiki entertained all the other domestic helpers there with her loud and clear singing with "Bahay Kubo"- a popular Philippine nursery song. She took pride with it as the other maids cheered and were clearly delighted to learn that a Chinese baby could sing their dialect song.

"Old School"

These are plain & "old school", but darn adorable.

Many aunties stopped to comment that the shoes are-- "so cute", they said.

In the past, they might be cheap, given the mainly China made ones. But these days, the reverse is more likely. In this case, these plain shoes are by Spanish designer- ZARA.

21st May 2011

The Papa bought her this outfit about two years back when he went Phuket for a holiday.

We went to V&A's new house last week.

It is always exciting for a couple to have a new house, especially if it is their first.

Some couples are lucky to have their own matrimony home and enjoy privacy, while others may compromise living with relatives or in-laws, it's a complicated matter sometimes. Especially so when family planning involves infant care, child care and thereafter.

Happy Birthday

@ MBS

After the morning swim at the pool, we went to Marina Bay Sands for a stroll last Sunday.
The intention was to occupy Kiki the whole day so that she doesn't nap and could sleep early in the night. This is because for over two weeks, she refused her regular bedtime. From 8.30pm it became 9.30pm and got later. She would cry and wail, and we have to wrestle her to bed.
We realised the change in sleep pattern and decided to have it back on track so that she turns in to bed in a favourable fashion. So, I took her out window-shopping at MBS and also to run around at the park outdoors.

Looking on at the real-size race car.

Oh, I would want to paint something with this colour scheme & theme.

Let me conceptualize on this.

An "ice-less" skating ring. Alas, a novelty I don't quite buy.

It's like eating skinless KFC, what's the fun without getting cold and wet. But of course it is convenient. You don't have to don on thick clothing or gloves and many children had a great time while their parents pig-out at the foodcourt, so yes, I can live with that. Ice-less ice skating -_-

@ MBS

There's an outdoor area that overlooks the old Clifford Pier and Shenton Way.
The breeze there is rapid and the man-made pond (with real lotus plants) added some serenity to an otherwise concrete jungle.

To the right, you can see Empress Place. (and further right is the view of Singapore Flyer & Helix Bridge)

If you can help it, don't drive there. Just look at the red dots in front of the bus. The traffic jam stretches for miles and luckily, buses get to move. (Bus 133 from Suntec Convention Centre goes to MBS. It takes only 10 minutes from Suntec)

@ MBS

Kiki has a kind of a fixation trying to fit many things into one hand.
I've discovered this about her when she was just,,,,,,, eight or nine months old when we had some games activities at the enrichment class, instead of putting some strings or flowers onto the charts, she will be squashing everything into one hand, and squeezing those that spilled back into the hand. I think it's like her own personal game or she gets personal satisfaction from it, I don't know. I don't stop her but I observe. In this case, she couldn't squeeze all twelve jumbo crayons into one hand, I suggested that she tries it with two hands.

Look at that triumph face.

Hot Cross Bun

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-IkzKKia2M

Here, Kiki mimics playing on the saxaphone to the tune of "Hot Cross Bun".
She learnt the tune from her music class and could sing in notes :-
E-D-C
E-D-C
C-C-D-D
E-D-C

But she has yet to play it on the xylophone. (two of her classmates are able to).
It is quite amazing to learn that children are naturally able to sing or play a tune.
They also pick up very fast. For me, I am also learning!

Polaroid Shades (for Kids!)

Ever since I've discovered Polaroid Eyewear more than a decade ago, all my shades are Polariod and nothing else. They don't pay me for saying this but let me tell you, they are really good, if not the best.

Benefits:-
Polaroid polarized lenses block out virtually 100% of glare.
100% UV400 protection against UVA, UVB and UVC rays
Reduced eye fatigue
Accurate colour perception
Greater visual definition through enhanced contrasts

You can spot fishes in a glaring pond. You can see the cars clearly while driving in the rain (daytime). You can see the beauty of the leaves on trees when the glare is being filtered out through the lens. You have to use a pair to really know the difference.

So you can imagine my delight when I found that they also have shades for children.

How often do you get home with a new toy to find it not working?
Not often, but it may be troublesome to return to the store for an exchange,. especially if you live a distance from it. But really, how often do we check if the toy is working while at the store? In my case, almost never.
Anyway, we had this toy turtle for months without opening it from its sealed package as we didn't think to check its condition nor were about to use it any time soon but when we did, alas it is a malfunction unit. =(
Nevertheless, we still have lots of fun with Turtle. (Since she never knew how it would have swam, she wasn't disappointed that it isn't working).

Monstrous Nails

This is what you can do with Playdoh---- Monstrous Nails! Growl!
Kiki loves playing with Playdoh, though many of her clothing are stained with the sticky material and wouldn't come off. But we do have some fun rolling up a snowman and shape-cutting other things like shark, seahorse, etc. with the cut-out templates that come with the pack. We also have pretend play, making cupcakes & cookies to go along with tea.

Redemption of vouchers

Colouring Books & Jumbo Pencils redeemed from the bookstore.

These days my redemption are at merchants selling kid's stuff, like the bookstore or departmental store where I can buy toys etc. If I'm on a budget, it is no longer about me getting my accessories or makeups.

Cheezels

Found a single piece of Twisties in a packet of Cheezels.

What a chance.

8th May 2011

The weather was scorching yesterday and we shelved plans to visit the Horticulture Park (Hortpark). It would have been a good day to swim though.
Anyway, we went to the Airport just to hangout and eat.
It is Mother's Day but we didn't celebrate it in a big way.
I think, to spend time together is good enough.

8th May 2011

This trolley with built-in baby chair is so easy to maneuver and Kiki enjoyed a different view from her regular pram which gives her mostly "butt view". She liked the seat so much that she threw a fit and refused to come down from it even when we were already going home.
I jokingly wished to take the trolley home. You know, a good pram is very costly. It can be almost two thousand dollars. *sigh.

Stacking it high

She's good at stacking them high and keeps going.

Arh!!!!!

Guilty face.

Arh!! It happened! I thought it would never happen but look at my sofa!

I asked her, who did it!? Did you draw on the sofa?

"No,,,,,, I colour." -_-"

Happy Mother's Day

Big Foot.

Happy Mother's Day! Everyone.
