CNY - 2O1O

Her first CNY!

Three days into the CNY, Kiki has shown vast changes in her social behaviour.

On the first day, she cried and was frightened of the crowd. We had to settle her in a room by herself and not every house we go to will have a spare room ready. Nevertheless, I coaxed her patiently and learnt that she's less likely to cry when I put the shades on for her. Maybe she thought they couldn't see her. (??!) and she can be more at ease. Whatever the case, it works and I've employed the shades a few more times! (talk about being innovative).

When we returned home on the first night, Kiki had an overdose of happiness, she practically played by herself over the next four to five hours! Way past her bedtime. She tossed, turned, crawled and rolled in bed, screaming and sqealing all by herself! Not that anyone of us was playing with her at all. She must be reviewing what a joyous day she had. I was in disbelief.

Day two and three were pleasantly fun. She has become more comfortable with people and we had such nice time everywhere we went. Sometimes, she squeals in a piercing pitch that the people around her had to cover their ears. This girl is just happy!

CNY - 2O1O - Duayi's House

Kiki was frightened when we walked into a crowded room, my uncle calms her down by giving her some CNY goodies. Although I was hesistant cos she still doesn't chew nor sits very steadily, I let it be cos I've told myself to relax. In the old days, the people don't fuss as much over their kids, hence I try to have a balance with this.
Engrossed in watching "The Lion King".

CNY - 2O1O - Back to the Office

We have the tradition to "activate" work on Day Two of CNY and we all go back to the office just to gather and have lunch. There's lucky draw and all but I went in for a short while as Kiki is still adjusting to being around large number of people.

CNY - 2O1O - At the Grandparents'

Kiki warming up to Charmaine and played with her toy. Charmaine was too shocked to react. I was afraid that Charmaine might just hit Kiki but she was cool.

For those of you who had been following my old blog, you might remember this wall.
Yes, it's been painted yet again!
Each time, I am fasinated by it. Not just because it is quite beautiful, but also because my father-in-law is blind in one eye and the other eye is also somewhat compromised.

Still, he paints! (when he is bored i think!)

Although my MIL complains that money is being wasted on paints,,,,,,,,,, I still appraise aloud that I liked the paintings and I asked Kiki to look. Hope that Kiki will learn to appreciate them soon.

CNY - 2O1O - Gong Gong's House

Day One @ my Grandpa's place.
We headed to the temple after this and also to my Godma's & later on to Bren's parents'.
Oh, and this year, my sis' friends all came over at night for rounds of Black Jack. The whole night was filled with laughters. My cousin WY, Thomas & Jin also dropped by. Followed by my aunt Lily, Julie, Elsie, Mr. Ho & Janelle. Janelle is leaving for down-under for her studies and I probably won't see her in another two years!

We were all fairly tired.....

CNY - 2O1O - Aunt Margaret's House

You know, the weather is especially hot these few days. Gotta drink more water.

Feasting in the bedroom.

My godma swinging Kiki and she loves it.

CNY - 2O1O - Boss' House

CNY - 2O1O - Boss' House

Cathy just has a way to play with babies, or is it Kiki specially likes to play with her?

I don't get this effect even when I play with Kiki. She doesn't chuckle as much. (I'm jealous!)

Having lunch in the garden.

Watching Tom & Jerry

An evening shot

Hammock & Walker

The towel is used to be a trainer-walker.

and a hammock.

Flash-back of some 30 years.
My uncle Meng used to swing us in a make-shift hammock using a towel and I remember being so thrilled. However, when he played it with Kiki, I find myself saying:"this one is heavy" (meaning, be careful! she's my baby!) Well, I guess I am finally feeling motherly. Ha Ha! Mothers worry you know!

I don't know if Kiki enjoyed the swing or was too thrilled she didn't know what to make of it. She naturally held on to the sides for her dear life. For sure she wasn't afraid cos she didn't cry but neither did she squeal in delight. I think she was still figuring out what was happening and is somewhat amused.

To the Market

They went to the market to get some clothes bamboos and used her pram to transport them back. Kiki helped to hold them.

At the Mobiles

At the D-I-Y Store

This is at the DIY store

Pulling the Grasses

A Walk In The Park

Some of the mornings, Kiki runs into the President while at the park.
Most of the time, Bren just exchange nods with the president.

This week, the president said to Kiki: "Hello boy!"

Bren said:"Girl sir, girl." and he asked to take a photograph together so that he can show the mommy, me.

Look at how Kiki poised herself for the exclusive shot.
Nice!

K for Kiki

I custom-made this letter "K" from a store my sis came across.
They do personalized wordings and names, you can customise your name and add some diamonds to it, or customise words, eg: "Joy", "Love", etc. I wanted to do "Kiki" with two diamonds for the dots on the "i" but ended up with just a capital letter K. This K was derived from a sketch I did, so it is unique to me! I will wear this until such time when I feel like passing it to Kiki. It is only now I realiased K can be for Kann too, so it makes sense that we share it. Ha ha.
If you are looking for some unique gifts for special ocassions or that special someone or for yourself, it may be nice to pamper the idea with this. Averagely, a four alphabet word with 2 diamonds would cost--- I think 650 S$. Check out their website under "Goldilocks" if you want to know more.
=)

8th Feb 2O1O, Sunday

One little hair clip can make her look so dainty.

I was just trying out the accessories that Jasmine bought for Kiki and didn't bear to remove them. She looks so cute with her hair clipped to the sides. Not that it is functional but well, girls are girls, she looks sweet!

8th Feb 2O1O, Sunday

In the morning.

Today is the day we spring clean the house.
Luckily, we have a new place so everything is still quite...... orderly.
Of course if I could ever have my way, I will want everything hidden.
I am a minimalist and monotonist. Alas, I haven't got my way yet.......
Well, I am just glad I have a nice and loving home.

6th Feb 2O1O, Saturday.

Today we went to the Godmas' place. I always get the kick to say Godmas in plural because my Godma is Kiki's Godma's mom. My aunt is my godma. Her daughter (my cousin) is Kiki's godma. This wasn't planned. It just developed naturally and I am glad it is so.
Kiki hasn't been to the Godma's place since,,, last Oct or Nov. And she was a little unsettled in the beginning but warmed up pretty well. When my Godma held Kiki in her arms and sang so lovingly, I saw a flash back of some 30 years ago. I can imagine her holding me like that. Oh so mushy you must say. Ya, sometimes, in life, there is a re-run and it is usually for the better.

6th Feb 2O1O

This is not a pose where she's helping out with the house chores.

It is when she's ramaging through the shelves again.

And eating the "lips" card. How apt.
Why do they always go to the places we don't want them to?
Is there a special draw to it or is it because we forbid them hence the interest?

CNY - 2O1O

My co-workers were so quick with the food,,,,, I didn't get to eat vegs, nor much of the fish maw and scallops. But it's ok lar, since I am one who doesn't like to dash. (not for food, not for cash or anything even if it's free) I am a laid back person. If there's enough, I will eat. If there's not enough, I will eat remains. It's fine. Cos' style matters more, and dashing is never my style. Henry has been a gentleman. He kept asking if he could get me some food since he saw me eating few. I told him no thanks, I have hands and I will serve myself. I don't need to be waited upon. So well, I was gonna tell you that I like CNY. More so as I grow older. Because I appreciate the chance for gathering and well wishes. The older I become, the more I feel the need to tell people I care about them. And the more I show, albeit some of the times I get mistaken as being aloof or proud but well,,,,, that's just my face. (HA HA!)
