Lab Rats - sporty or couchy

I've always enjoyed reading nuggets articles that I come across on local news papers on life sciences.

One such article I had read recently talked about how a person's enthusiasm and initiative to exercise is actually in the genes. Scientists studied 100 lab rats and observed 26 most self-motivating, active rats (sports enthusiasts) and 26 least active rats (couch potatoes). They then let the two groups multiply among its own group. Meaning the sporty ones reproduced among sporty ones and couch potatoes among couch potatoes.
Ten generations later, YES, TEN GENERATIONS LATER, the scientists found that the sporty offsprings are hundred times more active when compared to the 10th generation of couch potatoes. 100 times, how drastic is that?

Sunday 21st April 2013

Colin loves to splash and drank quite a bit of the pool water in the process till burped (!) haha.
He's contented to play by the steps and is not too game to enter the pool as he screamed in protest when we put him onto the float.

The fun was cut short when the rain came. After a quick shower, we headed to the cafe for some snacks while waiting for the rain to stop..... The kids were noisy, luckily there wasn't any other patrons and I joked that it felt as if we've booked the place.

Lunar BD

My mom came over with a cake last Wednesday to celebrate Kiki's lunar birthday.
Mom called two of my aunts on the phone to tell them that Kiki's five! (lunar age)
"Time flies!" they chorused.

I am so very shagged to the max.
Been doing my essay the whole week till the clock strikes twelve and still to go.
But still have the chance to buy new shoes,,,,, that's the amazing capability of being a woman.

Finally, I'm updated

Can I tell you that I can't keep up with everything.
I have work that's taking up all my day.
I have school that I can't keep up with the reading and another assignment is due.
I have kids that I squeeze time to bring them out for some running and cranking.
Sometimes I wonder how I do this but mostly I do find it fulfilling. I never find it tiring.
I hardly complain about anything, although sometimes I remind myself to take a breather.
I look at Rachael and Colin, often I smile inside my heart.
They fight for toys, they like to provoke each other but essentially, they will have each other.
And they will know that their parents are very much people who try.
We are parents-in-progress, learning and doing.
You know, I always say that one mustn't complain about their kids. Because they will only want you till their friends take over your place. And then it may be their careers, and also their adult lives.
So whatever stage of parenthood you are at, enjoy it. It is short lived so let it be good.

The City (theme play stations)

Kiki's BD celebrations. She's Four!

Look at Colin, he is so sweet.

Kiki's BD outing

I was very busy and didn't much plan for Kiki's birthday but managed to squeeze a day on Good Friday to bring them out to play. Good thing my sis & Ken organized a small party at my mom's place and we had a fun day together with Ryan & my cousins.

We went to "The City" at Liang Court (Rivervalley Road) $22 for 2hours per kid, it is a theme playground with a few common play stations eg: Supermarket, Restaurant, Clinic, Classroom, Mail Room, Comic/Super hero, Campsite and Fire Station. I think I was more excited than Kiki because it's like playing "house" with so much props, what else can we ask for man!

The space and shelves are height appropriate for children and the props are mostly life-size and real packaging, emptied and cleaned. I was impressed with the props, really.
