Boss' BD

Today is my boss' BD and we went lunch at a small cozy restaurant called - Chilli Padi, nestled in one corner off Pasir Panjang road. The quality of the food is above average, my immediate instinct when i tasted the assam fish & mixed veggies was - i must bring Bren here! and his mom. they will surely love this.
The assam noodles was nice but i would prefer it to be pipping hot.

i had two servings of kuey pie ti
they were so fresh and crispy

this may look bland but they were very good.

the bitter kar ro pok,,, i don't know its name.

the small, green, shell shaped peanut kuey was very good.

If you are planning any office makan sessions, they also have catering    http://www.chillipadi.com.sg
parties, meetings, weddings too! relatively cheap and good, man.

cake cutting.
my boss is the same age as my mom but he looks younger every year.

Clouds & Aerial

a rainbow never fails to awe me, no matter how short.
it is fascinating to see all the seven colours, especially purple. hard to spot green though.

and then the lights shone through the clouds
an awesome morning.

Weekend, July 27th & 28th, 2013

The town council kept its promise and converted the open-space car park back to the original small patch of grass and a standard badminton sized court, after the multi-storey car park is up and running.
Although it took a whole four-years, they did return us the grass patch which is invaluable.

Children play there, teenagers play there, and old aunties do their Qi Gong there.

My schedule last weekend was packed back-to-back. I had forced myself to complete an essay by Friday night 11pm and vowed to have a break over the weekend. Saturday's violin class was memorable as Kiki was asked to play Twinkle (to the variation of "chocolate-strawberry") and she did pretty okay.

Then we had a challenging time getting to Marina Square & Esplanade, given the multiple stalling of the MRT trains. Nevertheless, we made it in time (detoured via bus) and enjoyed the exuberance and adrenaline rush, having fireworks exploding in close proximity and it was real fun to know that Kiki's screaming syncs with mine in fine momentum. Such great fun to yell. In-between screams, she yelled - "Didi! DIDI!! LOOK, DIDIIIII! FIREWORKS!" like that. Concerned that her brother might miss something fabulous. Colin was keen but not overly excited.Boys......why are they less expressive?

Sketches

Looks like a shoe / boots
I don't know how her mind works but it surely has some kind of repeat patterns, I like!

 again, some primitive looking animals

this is the "cover of a story book", "written by Rachael", "illustrated by XXX"  and she went on to tell me the entire story about a dog who is also a monster.

Fireworks, NDP Rehearsal.

Kiki and I were the only ones screaming our heads off.
Val, if you are reading this, Kiki is just like you and I, great momentum!

Finding Links

Last night, I was doing my digital economy essay and learned about a function where you could view the links on websites. and so i tested it.
I typed: "link: www.rachaeljoan.blogspot.com" on the Google search bar to view an analysis (it says my blog is worth US$654.78
and another analysis programme shows that 32.8% of new traffic came from people searching for "Pororo Lyrics" and 61.18% new traffic came from people who searched for "Photomax. Pro"

there are so much digital footprint i tell you.

then, there was this site(Bookjunkie) that had a link to mine (that site linked me) and i am not sure why. it is a book and food blog. may he's a friend of sohcool? so anyway, i randomly browsed his (i presume it's a man, i'm not sure cos i didn't read his bio). anyway, i saw that he commented that the character of bill murray in groundhog day was trapped in the same, repeating day for a year. (which to me, it can't be so!) so one thing led to another and i left a comment on his blog... check out the links for answers if you liked that movie.   =)

Hi, by chance i found that there was a link between your old blog and my current, and i wondered why. anyway, i had randomly browsed your old blog and came across the comment about the character of bill murray being trapped in groundhog day for a year before snapping out of that routine. although it didn’t cross my mind to count the number of days he was being trapped, it surely didn’t feel like one year. i would presume it to be somewhere 4 or 5 years perhaps. and so i tried to suss out what others think:-
this may interest you

and the treat is here (reply from Harold Allen Ramis, the writer/director of groundhog day)

Random

 Housefly.
Did you know that a housefly either habitually "eats out" or "dines in"?
I had watched a documentary explaining that they have similar eating habits with humans. Some tend to eat out (like eat at hawker centers, restaurants) while some "tar bow" and dine at home. The tendencies do not change.

All in half a week's work

Sorry for the lack of words and smacks of photographs. I am very tied up with work and school..... quite tired sometimes.
Last Saturday, Winnie joined us for violin class.

And Mickey will join us ever since.

 Colin's beautiful eye lashes.

Wa,, my aunt Julie knows how to maneuver scrapbooking apps on her mobile.

The bus is forever a freezer..................................where are the green environmentalists?

Teacher John at the gym invited Kiki to the gym when we bumped into him one night, late.
He played "Rudolph, the red nose reindeer." on the miniature piano.

This afternoon, I went for a function test of one of our equipments.
this machine works like a robot that could clamp and un-clamp drill pipes, twist them together and drill it down the drill hole to drill for oil. nice work.

All in a week's work

 Jack-up rig
 Semi-submersible rig
 Drill ship

Kico hasn't been to school this whole week because the kid that originally had HFMD has returned to school and the Principal thought that if I could keep Kico at home for a couple of days more, they will be very grateful. So I said- no problem, I'll have them at home.
And so the Papa brought them out here and there, kind of like a short school holiday break.

 Pretend play

 Playground
 Food court

 Swimming
See, she is still trying to block Didi! I asked her why she did that, she said - Didi was crying (an invalid answer)

They went for a hair cut but Colin said - No.   So he was spared.
