100 rejections

Last Friday's lunch- Lohei.

My work friends asked me to join them for Lohei at Hei Sushi (the Halal version of Sakae Sushi).

While we were chatting, we saw the tent card that read- 10% off for UOB cards (picture showing a few UOB Visa cards). The fine print indicated that the discount is not applicable during the 15 days of the lunar new year. I was casually asking the waiter if the discount would be applicable to our bill. He said yes. I pointed out about the CNY blackout dates, he says no, the blackout is for the first two days of CNY only. (contrary to what was on the fine print). But none of us brought our UOB visa credit cards.

Out of fun, I asked if we will get the discount if we pay with UOB via Nets instead of Visa. He said yes, the discount will be valid. We were all surprised. We repeated and elaborated our question because we've not come across restaurants extending discounts when payment is made via Nets. Anyway, we did get a 10% discount on our total bill.

For the past few weeks, I've tried to practise the "100 Rejections" game. I've watched it over a TED talk, the fella says, all you need to do is to ask. Ask a hundred times if you really wanna get over shyness or timidness, or just to break from your own awkwardness. Ask for ridiculous things, ask while expecting to be rejected. It's ok. All you need to do is ask.  Even when faced with rejections, ask why. (oh.... that's another level ya?)
