Sunday 22nd Jan

My sis came to join us yesterday. We started with Teochew Porridge before going to the museum.

Cut-out floral cards, roll them to form a flower.

Pots and pans suspended in mid air. Artist conveying that we are all linked together by culinary (food), everyone cooks (or at least eats). At one point, the pots and pans clattered away, the sound they made were very pleasant, "clonking" noises. I thought it was the mechanics that made them clatter, like the mechanical movement of the strings. I inquired with the museum guide, she says it was the breeze. Breeze!? I raised my brows and commented that it was very nice and I thought I could wait for the next round of clattering clonks but I would have to wait for the wind.

We went on a guided tour of the National Museum of Singapore, our guide (Cheryl) is very pleasant, speaks eloquently, and tried her best to be engaging. Our Island was already inhabited with literate people during the 10th to 14th century and we have a huge boulder with inscriptions to prove. Sir Stamford Raffles set foot onto our Island on three occasions, it was his trusted aide; William Farquhar who built Singapore. Of course in terms of organization, they were both under the British East India Company and in terms of hierarchy, Raffles was the Lieutenant Governor. Nevertheless, each person including the local Temenggong (Abdu'r Rahman) & the Crown Prince (Sultan) of Johor (Tengku Hussein Shah) played an important and critical role to the making of our sunny island endorsed by these three men, represented by not more than themselves and lots of guts. We survived controversies and war, it was humbling information with the stuff in the museum, we ought to remember the gusto and fighting spirits of our forefathers, let name and accolades be unimportant, we have to be grateful for the spirits of our people who kept themselves alive.

Digital floral display in a darken dome, relaxing trance music suitable for meditation.

At the carpark, Sis & Colin chased after the Rooster who was crowing too loudly.
They were shocked that the Rooster flew! It flew across from one high slope to another (about 3 meters apart). In their hunt for Rooster, they found mommy Hen & her brood of Chicks.
Colin exclaimed: " I can't believe we found the whole family!"

Kiki made her own Poke animals with the little plasticine she has. She mixed the material and blend them into colours she want. She has only 4 basic colours I think.
