徒劳无功

We sent her to UCC as instructed, 2pm. I repeatedly reminded her that I've prepared two bottles of water and also a hotdog bun in her bag. And for her to take care of herself. I felt as if I was at the departure hall at the air port as the event helpers took the bunch of Spring Fairies away. Suddenly, it feels as if she has grown up overnight.

Late evening, it was literally the case of 台上三分钟 台下三年功 since we had started this class in October 2011, it has been almost three years, and the stage time for Spring Fairies was barely 3 minutes. In my opinion, she has not developed an aptitude in Ballet, however she does have rhythm, groove and timely moves. The Papa commented that it is too much time commitment for such little result. But in life, many things are  徒劳无功 : 白白付出劳动而没有成效, isn't it. It is not a big deal whether we do this or not, but we've had some exposure, learned about commitment and teamwork, and had some fun in the process. Next year, Ballet might make way for Swimming lessons. Not too sure at this moment, KIV 吧!

Rehearsal

So many girls.

That night, Kiki's voice was coarse. The rehearsal stretched to almost four hours instead of three.
She didn't eat the 莲容包I've packed in her bag.
"Didn't your Teacher give you all a break?" I asked.
"Yes, she gave us a break but it is more fun to play than to eat Bao" she said.
"Oh.  Then what did you play?" I wondered.
"The Jie Jie-s taught me to run, and slide on my knees.......... slide like skating across the room. The room is our Break Room."   "It was very painful but very fun" she added.
"Glide, you mean glide. And why is it painful?" I wondered again.
"There are rough holes, small holes on the floor, my knees are painful."
"Ouch" my heart said.

Ballet Recap

Last Saturday, the ballet school had an "open house" for parents to view what their child has been learning so far. So I brought Colin along to lend support to his Jiejie.

Watching on, wondering when they will end the routine

Starting rolling
Colin watched the stretching exercises and dance routine for 30 minutes before he finally became bored. Started to roll on the floor, self-entertaining, and expressed his epic boredom by stuffing his socks into his mouth. -_-"""""""""""

Ballet

Why does she purse her lips? Maybe she's thinking?

Teacher straightening her head.

(I think they are facing a mirror)

4th December 2011, Sunday

I asked her what she's learnt in ballet, she showed me "Thank you, Miss Tan." and did a curtsey.

Nice curtsey!

Then she went on to attempt the Yoga pose her Yiyi taught her.

Her skirt was in the way so she pulled it up to her armpits, problem solved.

I said, no, don't do that it's so ugly, but she ignored.

Finally finished counting my coins, this year I've got $1032! Very good for a BD present indeed but I'll just use it for daily expenses as I'll need it for now. Hope that next year I'll really get myself a nice gift. Till then!

Oh by they way, I banked the coined into Colin's savings account as the bank won't impose a surcharge. Turned out there's a free gift (for deposit above $1000 - rubber stamp set, but I've regretted letting Kiki play with it. It is so messy, inky and doesn't stamp well too. =( Next time, please choose some other gifts. I will not get anymore stamps like these and I've hidden them away. Hope they will fade from her memory.

Dance Class

Today, the teacher said we can't sit-in the class. She wants her students to be independent.
Okay, so Kiki took the lesson on her own. She throughly enjoys her dance lesson.

(I said - "put your hands on your waist") The teacher always makes them dance with hands on the waist. They have to gallop with hands on waist.
