At the Speech Therapist

So last week, we were at the Speech Therapist's.

I have informed the therapist about all the matters his childcare brought up, the tantrums, the lack of interest to complete task-in-hand, colouring, and whatever milestone lags etc. etc. After three hours of seemingly endless flip chart questions and interviewing, the therapist concluded that Colin is probably a little behind with Pronunciation (eg: Lion becomes Nyon), needs a little help with numbers (eg: three sweets give away one), other than that she thinks Colin is fine. The analysis reports that he has no problem with expressive language (above average, in fact), and that he gave a few original ideas (non-standard answers). She also feels that not every kid will be interested in colouring or art and crafts, hence the schools here would say that the child is unable to complete structured "table tasks". However, she feels that it is a good idea since we're proceeding with the speech therapy sessions in school, and that it should help him in more ways than one.

Saturday, 25th July 2015

Just make an impromptu snack for breakfast, better than nothing.
Colin takes coaxing to eat. Kiki tries everything.

Teacher says to upgrade to keyboard class next month, hence this is the last "baby class".

While on the way home, we saw Grandpa. We called out to him but he couldn't hear us. Even when we walk close to him he still can't hear us nor sense us.

So when we found him sitting by himself at the void deck, we stopped to chat. He was conscious of his blinded eye, so he doesn't want to look at me.  His eye was blinded long ago, he refused to take care nor see doctor. When I had my wedding, he put on a pair of black, dark, sunglasses throughout the reception and also the luncheon. Many people did not understand why he had to wear sunglasses while indoors and commented that he was havoc, playboy, old hero, and other unsolicited comments which I won't repeat. They didn't know he was concealing a bad eye that he thinks might frighten people.

I asked him about his SG50 EZ Link card before he would turn his face to me. (below)

Then we greeted the Granny who was doing her exercises at the corridor.

Weekend

Saturday's music class. What did we learn?
So-mi So-mi So-mi So-mi-do  like that lor. (hand signs)
Chimes, keyboard, ta ta ti ti ta. like that lor.

 Using his sis' old sneakers.
White socks are just so..... clean looking.

Last week, Kiki panicked and drank water at the deep pool. (I wasn't there).

So this week, we had a hard time. She was sobbing the whole 30 mins while practicing her kicks.
Until eyes swollen, eye bags formed. Nose red.

Still, I encouraged her to overcome her fear.

我是这么想的:- If I give her a break, it would be harder to restart. If we change a coach, it may not solve the problem because the problem is phobia. So this is like what I call the - Clutch Fighting phase. It's like you're changing gears on an upward slope? vroom vroom fighting clutch, find that balance, bite on it and step on!  So I kept signalling her the "I Love You" hand sign while I stayed at the corner of the pool (in pool). While she conveyed her message and wrote in the air
 "H O M E !" and pleaded to go home.

So this continued for another 20 mins at the deep pool. My skin is so thick, I didn't care that I may appear crazy. She bargained with her stern coach to swim the breadth of the pool rather than the length. The coach said in a very loud and frustrated voice- But It's The Same What! Length or Breadth is the same! You are only swimming a Short Distance!

Honestly, it is not the same for the child. You know why?
Although the kid may only be swimming 6 mtrs, it looks shorter when swimming it 3/4 of breadth; against swimming 1/10th of the length. Visually it looks intimidating not being able to see when you'll end.
So anyway, luckily the coach gave up and let her and the other kids swim breadth.
So after much coaxing with my hand sign, she managed to do her kicks with swim board and a short distance (3 mtr) without board.

I have the phobia of water despite liking the sea and water sports (which I am now unfit to do).
But I hope KiCo will both enjoy swimming and water sports.

No school day

Today, his school called to ask us to pick him up as there are two "white dots" on his lower lips.
His school is very stringent and will not allow children with a temperature, with red dots, white dots, an ulcer, into the school. So sometimes, we get phone calls to fetch the kid(s) home.

The Papa took the chance to give him a treat and went for breakfast after visiting the church.

Meanwhile...

Meanwhile, Colin stayed over at SJ's place with my sis while we were away, made friends with Boy-Boy, and had an adventurous morning at the Fire Station watching demos and such.

And numerous kiddy rides

Cement Mixer

On Sunday, Colin came up to me and said - Mama, can I ask you (for) something?
Me- Sure, baby, what is it that you want?
Colin- Can you buy for me a Cement Truck?
Me- You mean a toy Cement Mixer Truck? (crazy me, of course a Toy lah)
Colin- Yes, and also an Excavator but not with wheels, I want the Excavator with tracks.
Me- You mean like a belt track wheels?
Colin- Yes. Can you buy books on Construction and Excavators?
Me- Can I borrow the books from the library for you?
Colin- Yes. Thanks, Mommy.

 Tourists Boat

 Commercial Vessel

 Tug Boat

My "Positive Mental Attitude" weaned off after a decade.
So, I begin to read and apply these again.

Sometimes, I worry too much. Now, I try to snap out of it.
Sometimes, I can't decide if I want KiCo to enter into Tao Nan.
I mean, of course I want and I wish. The school is just across the road from us.
First, there is the balloting. Then, there is the standards.
I have no idea what to expect and I also wouldn't want to hear about the stress from studying.
I hope we could have a pleasurable Primary School Education process and still do amazingly well academically.
Is that possible? How do I steer that way.

I need to reboot and re-look into balancing my life.
I want to be a Mother who emits quiet strength, patience, generosity, and above all; faith.
Just that day, Kiki said the F word. She said something something fucking smell.
I was so angry, I asked her to clarify what she had just said.  She said "Farting smell"
I think she might have said Farting but it sounded like Fucking because I am guilty of scolding "Fucking Idiot" when I am angry. Which happened more often the past few months. I should never have done that. It is careless, loose with coarse language and a terrible example. I have to be more aware of my behaviour.

It is so tough to be patient.
I carried out an exercise on myself.
I said to myself, every time I feel my patience thinning, just say it in my head -- "Loving Kindness", regardless situation or subject person. I did that for a few days but abruptly, one freaking event threw me off my well intended tracks.
Then I thought to myself, what an idiot I am to think that I could hold on to that mantra.
But still, I hope to try again.

Weekday

Colin was arranging the cards in a square, so I asked him to pick out numbers 1 to 10.
Turned out he recognises numbers 1, 2, 3, 8 only.
How......I haven't got any time for anything!

Last night taught Kiki 听写 and I had taught the wrong stroke sequence.... luckily I flipped the file and found the notes and made corrections.
