HBD 2018

Happy Birthday to the man that drove me crazy, shattered my heart, brought out the worst in me and in himself. Without knowing the degree of my rage, I would not have been able to grow and to eventually land on the next level. Thanks but no thanks, dear but oh dear. LOL.

The Obstacle Is The Way

Steps to turn every adversity into advantage

Bren's brother custom-print these for his old school.
Left a few pieces for me to place in the retail box.
Unfortunately, these are not flying off the shelves, perhaps with customized print, we could make sale from volume orders. Well, I'm not holding my breath for that though. I need to think out-of-the-box, get creative.

Homage to the elderly

Three cheers to a brave, young lady - Gillian, co-founder of "Homage"
Her company was cited as an example in our NDP 2017 Speech, on the topic of our ever-greying population, our ever-hectic working lifestyles, and an App to help families find Care-giving assistance drawn from a pool of Care Professionals. (many of them are professional nurses).

After many rounds of qualifying- Medical checks, background checks (with the police as well as past employers), caregiver courses, first-aid courses, plus other relevant declarations; Bren is now ready to be dispatched as a caregiver under the Homage organization. The App enables working adults to hire help for their family members, eg: interim period before your helper arrives, recovery period after surgery, companionship (bring elderly to the park, coffee shop & other social engagements, physio therapy, etc.)

Grab Me if you can!

Yay, we've finally got going.
So many prerequisites.

  1. check entity name $15 (times two cos we appealed for our business' name)
  2. register sole-proprietorship $100++
  3. print company registration document $14++? can't remember.
  4. make address stamp & company stamp $31 (need it for LTA & for insurance)
  5. purchase commercial insurance $1388++ (cheapest comparing to various up to $2000)
  6. transfer car ownership to business. LTA (I don't know if there was cost involved)
  7. purchase an Android phone ($150)  for Grab driver registration (iPhone won't do)
  8. register at Grab
  9. wait one day for driver's data to be uploaded
  10. start Grabbing! Yay!
Took about a month to settle all these man.......

So anyway, Bren does office cleaning too. Grab Clean.

Below are the errands he could run-- (he's already doing all these for friends but now, we should just charge a fee. must tell his friends we need to eat you know).

Normalcy

Our lives regained some normalcy this morning now that our "new" car has arrived.  But I know that we have another phase to Ganbette, 加油! 加油!
We had to kiss Lancelot goodbye, thanked him for his sturdy and unwavering support in the past nine years despite almost everyone doubting our choice in using an old, beaten, 16-going-on 25-year-old car. Both Grace & Lancelot were the best. They are proofs that life could be enriched with humbleness.

Today, we have Auriga on board.
Auriga is nine years old. His COE will expire on boxing day. Seems like trouble if we can't finance the COE or get another car in time but well, we will take it in our strides. Hopefully everything falls into place. Auriga is still very new on the outside but requires a bit of additional repair work (battery, engine oil, wheels alignment).

New Lease

Brendan has found a new job. He is still in the surveying line but has moved from Export to Construction industry. The company he works with is a small company that takes on sub-contracts from property developers and construction works. It is rumoured that Facebook will have its Singapore office at this new building- The South Beach. (situated at the old NCO Club). The South Beach is a new design lifestyle hotel, consists offices, apartments, retail and F&B.

Blood Bank

Bren went for his regular blood donating yesterday. They gave him the certificate & a token they've safe-keep since  he didn't collect them at a ceremony the blood bank organised. His other silver coins are strewn among the kids toys and I'm not sure if the coins are still around. I guess as for the gold one.. we'll keep it aside.

初七 25 Feb, Wednesday

I found these Fanta Orange bottles a novelty, so bought a carton for the office people. Everyone found them cute.
You can get them from 7-Eleven.

THANK YOU FOR SAVING LIVES (FROM THE BLOOD BANK)
Bren went blood donating and they gave him a pair of 'oranges' to squeeze with.

Bren @ Blood Bank today 30th December 2014

Wa, a different sandwich for Christmas?

Bren refuses to go Batam with me because he says if he went, he would have to be quarantined for three months and couldn't donate blood. There is a list of countries listed as high Malaria risk.

Sunday

AdstraGold Microbrewery @ 417-419 East Coast Road

We tried the light, medium and dark.
Next time, just go straight for the dark.

The place specialises in steak on hot stones (lava stones) and craft beers.
But we don't take beef..... and they ran out of mutton cos they had an overwhelming crowd the night before; so we ordered other food which turned out so-so.
I could tell that the steaks that other customers had ordered were very good, well at least from the sizzling fragrance and satisfied faces of the customers.
