Minecraft Music Blocks

Kiki arranged the musical blocks in such a way that when it plays, the sound bits plays the Minecraft Theme Song.

It is interesting what kids come up with from the things they like & play with.

Audio Type

Emailed to myself the text from Chinese story books. Just use the audio typing button on my phone to do the typing. read into the mic. but got to check the words because many words sound the same but are of different characters.
now we can have more time reading them since we really can't learn new words or phrases within the 3 or 6 weeks book loan periods.

Class Apps

Colin's form teacher communicates to us via an App known as "ClassDojo".
She would update us on class activities, eg: the kids were out of the classroom for a road safety briefing and they learnt to use the zebra crossing, etc.

The class' Whatsapp group is also useful. The Parent Support Group (parent volunteer) is helpful and assuring.

For Kiki's class' Whatsapp group, we've been juggled hence we now have different sets of parents from before. Parents without older kids (like me), will benefit from parents with P5, P6 children. We learnt that there are no CA1 & CA2 for P3 & P4, that means we only need to do the mid-year exams and the final exams for P3 & P4. Not sure if this is a good thing but still, less tests means Yay? Just hope I don't get unpleasant surprises from Kiki. Given me, a lazy parent, hope that both my kids will do well for school. Can't help feeling unsettled.

Logos

At night, it was playtime.
Kiki showed me the Logos she "designed".
She used an App that has shapes in various shades.
 First, she made a Dog.

Then she asked me to guess what's this (above)
I couldn't guess correctly, hence she revealed that it is McDonald's
The Wifi logo is for the free Wifi at McDonald's.
The Bacon strip is for their Big BF, and the M is for their name.

She also made a Bird.

Another bust of a bird

Meanwhile, Colin was motivated enough to practise the piano on his own.
I asked him to teach me a few pieces, I had thoroughly enjoyed him teaching me!
Ode to Joy, When the Saints go Marching in, Lu La Lay, Mulberry Bush, Twinkle. etc.
Wow, were my fingers tired! The keys were so heavy.....
Our piano has many, many keys that are................ dead.
I wished we had a brand new piano, man!

Games App

"Jie jie, Jie jie! I have to show you something!"

Colin's voice was excited and urgent.

"Open the door, I'll show you!" he continues.

It's none other than a game he was playing.... he was so excited to be on the leader board.
We cheered him on and he was number 7 on the board before he lost the game.

Airfrov (App)

Airfrov is a community of travelers who volunteer to help make purchases when they travel.
You can put up a request on what you want, state the price you're willing to part with.
If a traveler picks up your request, he will let you know his travel dates.
If you're agreeable, you make a deposit (the App will hold on to your deposit).
When the item arrives (you can choose to collect or pay extra for it to be delivered), your payment will be made to the traveler who had helped you purchased the item.
Items range from food, snack, to bags, wallets, shoes, toys, make-up, electronics. etc.

Homage to the elderly

Three cheers to a brave, young lady - Gillian, co-founder of "Homage"
Her company was cited as an example in our NDP 2017 Speech, on the topic of our ever-greying population, our ever-hectic working lifestyles, and an App to help families find Care-giving assistance drawn from a pool of Care Professionals. (many of them are professional nurses).

After many rounds of qualifying- Medical checks, background checks (with the police as well as past employers), caregiver courses, first-aid courses, plus other relevant declarations; Bren is now ready to be dispatched as a caregiver under the Homage organization. The App enables working adults to hire help for their family members, eg: interim period before your helper arrives, recovery period after surgery, companionship (bring elderly to the park, coffee shop & other social engagements, physio therapy, etc.)

Filters

One night, she told me that she is finally finding happiness in learning the violin.
I asked - how so?
She says that it was happiness when she figured out some stuff on her own, before teacher taught.
I was like - hum.......... okay....... I guess.
That's like discovery learning of sorts I suppose.

Waaaa.... Money!

Why are people so mean?

Kiki built a Pikachu structure in her Block World
Cute right?
Also a Snorlex that was beaming laser via his eyes...... cool.

She gives me a virtual tour of her virtual farm, there are horses, rabbits, hens.
She shows me that a player could ride on the horse, galloping view.
I say that's cool. She explains that players from all over the globe is able to visit each others' worlds and farms as guest visitors. Guest visitors could ride on the horses but they will not be able to build or destroy structures. I say that's cool. She then tells me that despite the limitation, some guests still has mischief up their sleeves. I ask how so? She explains that there was a time, she has five or six horses in her farm. Some guests visited and THEY RODE HER HORSES AWAY! not rode away from the game but rode far, far, far away within her block world but into the wilds. She took three weeks to find all her lost horses and rode them back to her farm. Good Lord. Why are people so mean?
