Polling Day, Friday, Sept 11th 2015

Everyone with a pink IC went to the polling station, well, not everyone since some went overseas for holidaying but we had 2.3 million eligible voters this year (compared to 2.06 mil in 2011).

We brought Bren's mom to the polling station which was just at the void deck across our block. However, we were unable to convince Bren's father to go together. He kept showing me his EZ Link transport card (which has the SG50 logo) and explained to me that he doesn't need to vote. He added that he has been exempted from voting since he had served the country during the British Military pre-independence days. He showed me a piece of yellowed document bearing the date "31 May 1954" and told me his Major General was DDC Tollet.

After 20 mins of persuading, we relented and left him to his own devices.

His "bad eye" had been there since 1954!

  1. The more he should vote since he was major General? Anyway, could have excuse him.

  2. He was a Corporal *not Major General but he remembers the name of his Major General although many other things he can't remember.
