Monopoly Jr.

Kiki has been asking me to play Monopoly (Jr.) with her. She says that I've been saying - "When I'm free" since December when she received the board game as Christmas gift. She added that her Papa promised to play with her but it didn't happen. That did it for me. The closing sentence. So we played Monopoly many times over Friday & the weekend. I didn't know that the Junior version is so straightforward. It's like Rapid Monopoly. They should just call it Rapid Monopoly. Procuring properties is compulsory if you land on an available property. When you land on a space, you would either pay the bank for it or you pay rent to the owner. The "Chances" are also straightforward, basically either gain a free property or pay some fines. The player who runs out of money loses the game. That's all. No skills involved. Plain luck with the dices and "Chance" cards. The Jr. version is "fairer" in the sense that wealth distribution is fairly even because properties are limited and good and bad chances are also quite even out. Even when a player loses, he is not a world's apart from his opponents (unless he had been really unlucky by missing GOs (salary) and having "bad chances" too many times). Otherwise the game is rather level as in a player loses when he run out of cash but the number of properties he has would be quite on par with the rest.

It is funny watching Kiki play Monopoly. She's easily excited when she lands on "Chance". She would mumble softly- "Gimme a good chance, gimme a good chance".

As for Colin, he only wants to run away with the dice!
