BKK: Day 2: Part 2: Platinum Fashion Mall (at Pratunam)

 Taxi to Chinatown (about 150B by the meter)

On Night 2, we went Chinatown.
It's a short stretch of road that you could probably cover in 20 mins.
Normal Chinese dishes, fins & bird's nests at Heng Lee's

 News Stand blasting Teochew Opera songs.

We took a Tuk Tuk back to Pratunam because I thought to give my aunt an experience, she has not taken a Tuk Tuk before. In fact, she has never been to Bangkok. She said she visited those counties she really wanted first, you know, in case she only has that number of travelling opportunities, so Bangkok had not been on her list until now.

The small Tuk Tuk we were on was zooming in neck-breaking speed. There were no railings by the sides, only a fishing net that gives no assurance. As the traffic cleared up later into the night, the Tuk Tuk driver was speeding like a Jetski. It was only in the next morning that I learned that my aunt and I both said a prayer for safety when we were on that little Tri-motorbike. Nevertheless, the Tuk Tuk is the most common transport next to Taxis and it's also the city's character symbol. The mid size Tuk Tuk could cramp five adults and 3 large luggage; what a scene.

Along Pratunam as we walk back to our hotel, there are numerous handicraft stalls.
Synthetic leather cases, passport holders, iPad covers, document holder.

 name print for free, charms at 20B (40cents) each.
Bags at 150B (S$7) each
Don't expect the bag to last, these are for light weight stuff;
like EZ link card and house keys, perhaps a novel also.

 My aunt bought a Piggy for herself.

The Novotel hotel is just next to Platinum Fashion Mall. (like 3 mins on foot if you walk along the street). There is also an escalator within the hotel's lobby (6th floor) that would bring you straight to the Mall's 5th floor. There is an annex to the Mall, hence it would feel like two, huge shopping Malls.
