The boy upgraded the vending machine into one that has two chambers. You can choose different flavoured drinks (eg: the red slot for Coca Cola, or the green slot for Sprite). After slotting in the money, your drink will be dispensed and they come out from the same outlet although there are two separate chambers. I am not sure how the machine is configured but it works.
As for the cash dispensing ATM machine, there is a smooth, punch and push movement where cash is being dispensed. From what I can see, there is a rubber band behind that does the trick.
This little boy is a little builder, he builds gadgets better than his sister does.
