Kite Flying (Attempts) 31 August 2012

Our HR department organized a kite flying session, followed by dinner at Kiseki Restaurant (Buffet) http://kisekirestaurant.com.sg
While at the Marina Barage that evening, it was foggy and "windless".
none of us could get the kites to soar and I am quite a seasoned kite flyer mind you, I could only get it up mid-air. what a bummer!
 Well, at least we've tried.

Today, I Slayed my Dragon.... or yet.

I stuck a post-it note for myself to slay my dragons as I had been getting edgy and neuronic lately. Have somewhat of a non-urgent medical condition and have been putting off consulting a doctor, for fear of any impending surgery or pain or recovery, etc etc etc, and putting off the "difficult" work aside, hoping it will go away (which more likely will explode if my customers come calling on the phone, they are usually angry), etc etc etc. In a nano-second I felt that I am empowered enough to slay my dragons and I'd better do, so I quickly put that feeling onto that tiny green square so as to remind myself of that moment of empowerment, and anyway, I'll have my gynea's appointment next week which gives me the chance to consult him about my the other non-urgent but somewhat-bothering-me condition and get a referral to see a specialist but I think the fees might be steep and I hope I could use my medisave money if not I may have to go through the polyclinic route which may never happen as I procrastinate a lot and had been putting off going to the clinic week after week when the clinic is just across my house, so this is just an inkling of one of the dragons I have, which I should be slaying it next week but for today, I will slay my work-dragon first. Amen.

This raised-face mirrors remind us of a musical jewellery box that our mom had as one of her wedding ornaments. the inside of the box had mirrors like these, sprouting from the center, a spinning ballerina.

Met my sis for dinner and chit-chat on Monday evening.
I'm glad that her office is nearby mine, so some of the times, we could just catch up with each other.
I like to have face-time sometimes too, cos the human touch is important.

Sketches

Kiki doodled a fish with a wriggly tail, "eating seeds", she said. She always has a way to describe whatever she draws. This fish, looks so prehistoric to me. It's like, I don't know,, dinosaur era? or perhaps it looks more like a tadpole.

Hi-5 in Singapore

The Hi-5 programme was acquired by the giant corporate - Disney, earlier this year in June.
It's like every good thing gets absorbed by a bigger corporation. Just like several of the key equipment we sell, have either been acquired by big-boys or the manufacturer sets up their own presence here and we, the middleman, faces the axe. A little gloom for me as it gets tougher with sales target up, expenses up and key products down. Hope that my boss will inject some new business strategies to propel us on. I keep thinking I've got to maintain at least status quo income and living standard for the next twenty years and the thought itself is rather daunting. A life-coach once advised me that the ideal planning outlook should pan over five years and not stretch over the horizon that is too far away to do anything about. But the thing is that I feel hapless even thinking about the next five years. The state I'm in is like "make-hay-while-sun-the-shines" and I don't think that's a good state-of-mind. Well, I can only hope that with each step I walk, I am equipped with resources, surrounded by supportive people, and that importantly, I enjoy and make each moment of my life, count.

Did you know that the Hi-5's rights/copyrights/company, has been acquired by Disney? (June 2012)

A Giant Ferris Wheel called "The Singapore Flyer"

Brendan received a pair of charity tickets from the Singapore Blood Bank, thanking him for donating his 75th pint of blood. I asked my sis to go with me last week and we chose a Monday evening so that there would be no crowd. Just a minute before hopping onto the viewing capsule, I had cold feet, because out-of-the-blue, I remembered the incident when the wheel stopped moving and the visitors had to be rescued via harness from the height of 165m above ground! What happens if it happened to us! I might just die. (I am no fans of roller coaster nor height). So anyway, I distracted myself with lots of nonsense conversations with my sis and also took consolation that one male Indian tourist in the same capsule was also nervous and was told by his friends to "self-distract" hence he dialed his other friend and chatted on his mobile phone for almost 30mins. Haha.

Weekend 1-2 Sept

I'm sorry, there is a glitch on my phone or is it blogspot, even though I've saved the orientation of the photo, it comes out sideways. Blah! Irritating.

Funny edition by my sis. Colin looks totally like Kiki with a wig on.
My sis bought a pair of cool skinny-jeans for the both of them.

About the Udder

Kiki saw that my T-shirt has a print of a ram and asked me - "Mama, is that a goat?"
I was not very sure how to explain the difference between a ram and a goat, so I replied "yes".
She said - "I also have a goat, you wait here." and she went out to get me the plush toy calf.
"This is not a goat, this is a calf, a baby cow." - I said.
"No,,,,,, there is no "milk"" - she replied. (referring to the udders of a cow)
I explained: "baby cow has no udders yet, just like you see, Mama has breasts and you don't have them yet." (pointing to her my breasts).
"I have!"- she lifted up her T-shirt to show me.
"I know, but they are flat." - I said.
"Flat?" - she was confused.
"Ya, flat like the flat screen TV"- me
'TV?"- Kiki
(me- pretend to change the subject)
