Can you spot me and my sis? she is easy to identify with her fusion pink singlet.
I like the third person from the left (back row), in black T, with her arms stretched like a walking corpse is totally neat.

I can't wait to see more pictures from the others. Also, my own pictures... patience is a virtue!

An Empathizing Kid

Recently, Kiki gets emotional (sad) and starts to cry quietly when she hears a sad sounding lullaby.
I was quite taken aback and don't quite know how to react to that. (I told her; "In life, there are good and bad things, and it's okay") Even when a cartoon duck cries (on TV), it took a short while for Kiki to empathize with it and cried along. Gosh, why is this happening? I hope it's just a developmental stage. I must go read this up from the net...

Saturday, 2nd October 2O1O

June gave me some clothings that her girl has outgrown. I gladly welcome them as it adds much fun and characters to Kiki's waredrobe.

We went to Anna's place again this weekend and we are always happy to be there as the kids get to play together and Kiki gets to interact more too.

Saturday, 2nd October 2O1O

I always remeber my Godma's birth-date but I totally didn't put 1 and 1 together and didn't realise that this was the closest weekend we could celebrate my Godma's BD, and I didn't prepare a present for her.... these days, many things slip my occupied mind. (so sorry!)

Nevertheless, we celebrated in jest and my Godma was elated with two grandchildren in her arms.

After the birthday song being sung in three languages, the little ones immediately tried to blow out the candle. They were both eagerly leaning forward with their pouting lips, sprinkling misted breaths onto the small cake.

A serious-looking Kiki doing the "huuuuoooo".....

LomotionSG

I didn't waste a minute as I only had 2 hours to do my shoots for this friendly competition.
The rest of the people were mostly done.

And so, I quickly took a few shots of my baby posing with my sis' camera (lomo blackbird fly) and then off I went snapping away, running through the fields with the themes and ideas floating in my head.

(I used my lomo LCA for the competition)

This is us,
This is Kiki, flying our kite.

LomotionSG

Hosted by: http://www.thirtysix.com.sg/main
Event: Lomotion

My sis was gonna participte in LomotionSG’s Yearly Event- "The Sunny Rehab FOUR + 36 Frames Project = MASK”ERADE
Rehab Location: Marina Barrage
Date : 03 October 2010 – Sunday
Time : 11.00am – 7.00pm (8hours)
Since I had been lomoing on my own before, I thought it is a good idea to rekindle this interest and at the same time, introduce Kiki to the scene.
I am glad we went to this event, the people were just very quirky & fun, I like!

We all donned on various masks and took a 360deg spinning shot.

The whole Roof Garden was littered with people, kite-flying, picnicking and the bunch of us goofing around with all our manual cameras.

Eensy Weensy Mother

I am a pathetic mother.

I had several evening engagements the past three nights and missed the regular 1-hour playtime with Kiki and worry that her faint fondness of me may wane.

To add fuel to fire, a person commented to me that I must have offended my baby since she still does not call me 妈妈 (Ma Ma). She said flatly, "a baby does not have to learn to call 妈妈 , you must have offended her that's why she's not calling you". Oh, that's under the belly you fella! I've got to work you know! Anyway, the next thing I know, I flew home trying to catch Kiki before she falls asleep. She was falling asleep and so, in my attempt to let her know I was there, I sang softly to her her favourite song, "Eensy Weensy Spider". She made the spidy-crawling actions with her hands and clapped at the end of the song. What a delight for me.

After my shower and some unwinding, I took out the music sheets on a few nursery songs. I was going through the songs, deciding which one to start putting down the CEG-s GAB-s on the notes for Maricar to play on the keyboard with Kiki and then a thought came to me,,, I must not give Maricar the Eensy Weensy Spider music sheet. I must reserve that song for Kiki and me. That song is like "Our Song", special to the two of us. Because I was blown away when Kiki did the spidy crawling action when she was like,, can't remember,, a few months old. and she will Always clap at the end of that song. (she claps only for songs she likes, she is very sure on what she likes). And so, in one second of selfishness, I want to reserve this song sheet for just me and her. But on a second thought, I relented,,, and let it go. I cannot intentionally deprive Kiki from having an enjoyable time. Be it Kiki having fun with any person, I must do my part and my best to let her enjoy every happy moment, even if I know I am missing it. Even if it means she may grow fonder of another person over me.

*sigh* what a decision for me. But I am glad I came through my senses and let my wisdom come over me. I have to be a selfless mom. Welfare of Kiki comes first.

Joy

Joy is when my dead i-pod touch resusciated!

Farewell, Rain

Rain is one of the rare people I really like.
I didn't tell her that, I don't think I can ever say something like that to a person, I can only rely it perhaps to someone else.

She has this optimism about her, a nice deposition and a quiet steadiness.
With her workload and all, she has never thrown a tantrum or bang the files on the desk like some others. Not even nag or whine.

To double it, her perseverance is strong, given her day job plus her part-time degree programme she's juggling.

She's fiesty and warm, doesn't carry tales, has a sense of communion.

And so today, is her last day of work at our office.
Her ex-boss has asked for her return and had displayed her gratification for her to return to her team. I guess any good worker with all these plus virtues will be sort after. Though I'll surely miss her daily presence in our office, I am happy that she's happy moving on.

And so, I wish her everything good.

At the park

Sunday 19th September 2O1O

Like A Boy

She has just woken up from an afternoon nap.
Earlier that morning, I trimmed her fringe and the sides of her hair.... she looks so much like a boy.

She loves playing peek-a-boo!

Read This Card

Another one of Chrystel's art work. Not exactly art as it's a card.
It says "sad", meaning she's sad she's leaving her Kindergarten and proceeding to Primary 1 (P1), and that "read this" arrow is so out-of-place but funny. Children... =)

Silverlight

This is my niece's drawing. It is entitled "Silverlight" I don't know why, I have asked the mom but have not gotten a reply. She's 6 years old and I feel that her work is good. Lots of details.
Look at that Papa bird in hat, with Mama & Baby bird.

A new Minnie

Ta-da! A sweet little minnie mouse.

I don't intentionally dress her up all the time but as it turns out, she has many charismatic outfits. Normally, I let her wear her nice dresses on Sunday as we attend her enrichment class. Today, her teachers all exclaimed over her. Her Japanese teacher- Misago Sensei, was the most candid of all. She exclaimed "Kawaii! Kawaii!" (可愛) so many times. Her English teacher went "oh! cute little princess" (which I think is not apt at all) I think the word "princess" should just be limited to the Royal Princesses or to Disney/Cartoon Characters, or when doing some form of dress-up or during a stage play. I hate to comment this cos many people, including my friends, have this 公主妈妈病 (the psychosis of thinking that their child is a princess). I don't even say it is 公主病 because I think it's the 妈妈 who instilled the 病 into the toddler, who may have this faux notion that they are princesses when they really are just brats. (no oops!)
Sure, you can by all means have the fun in playing the role of a princess but if the role playing becomes weeks and months, it will lead to a behavioural faux pas where the child thinks that she is the princess and everyone else is a commoner (?!?!!) The child is not to be blamed. Just look at who's feeding that notion to her brain.

Well, this entry was not meant to deal with this topic, I just got carried away as I am so passionate about our children and to bring to your awareness on how easily we could be influenced by what is being fed to us from the media, prints, movies, songs. We don't live in fairytales, although we wish we could all concoct one for ourselves. Well, I am in no position to tell anyone what to do or not to do, but I do hope that those princessy kids perhaps just all go to a make-belief land. No lah. That's just an unkind thought. Ha. Seriously, I just wish that all mothers have more insights and wisdom. Including me.
