Weekend December 2018

Salted Egg Noodles
(bought but have not eaten this yet)

So old still wanna play in Ball Pit
Need to spend $80 in order to get to play.
So I bought some cosmetics from Innisfree (Korean)
Not too bad, given that the prices are reasonable
(foundation $32, eye shadows $8, nail colours $4) etc.

R&B cheese brulee pearls tea

 Luckily we shared

Spent $80  to get an entry to Ball Pit playtime
(game arcade $50 top up stored value)
promotion $50 top up gives you $100 credit
essentially, you'd pay half of the price with each game
They have these promotion about 4 times in a year.

Leaning tower of Pisa
Only the boy and his Papa have the knack to assemble these types of toys.
I for one, do not have the aptitude for mechanical or blueprint stuff.

Unfortunate not

Happy!

Watched the movie with Kiki and we will proceed to watching the TV series of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Resilience, resourcefulness, and radiant minds.

School Holidays

When you live in Singapore, every day is a Sunny Holiday.

They still bite each other.
But mostly, they play together.

Equalizer

 MOS Burger's Ebi Burger.
Not too bad.
Anything that's deep fried hardly goes wrong, right?
At least they lightly grilled the buns.
I shall try to order the fish burger again, to just see if they've taken my feedback.
Not sure why the don't heat up the buns for their fish burgers... those buns are cold.
It's weird to bite into cold buns with hot fish filet. Doesn't blend.

The public has little trust with the govt because they most of the time, the poll results are direct opposites to the public sentiments.  Ban this ban that. Ban sugar.
One fine day some scientist will say sugar is good. Then what?
Ban sugary drinks in schools is good enough.

They based their finding over a poll of 1,900 people?
Even if 1,900 people supports the ban in sugar, that small sample size does not represent public.

Unrelated topic to the sugar ban.

This one is talking about how some group of people,,,, keep harping on "grades are not everything".
In our society, the national service and the school education system are Equalizers. Meaning, regardless race, language or religion, or social economic status for that matter; no one escapes from these two.

There is a reason why parents of middle SES are not buying into the ideology of grades are not everything. Because there is no ready, cheap and public infrastructure for things like coding programmes for kids, and other forms of mastery skills development programmes, and there is no ready mass job market for more sophisticated skills set yet. Sure, we know that many jobs will be replaced by AI or made redundant, so the questions is, what are the jobs that will be available? In 10, 15, 20 years? From there we work backwards to where we are right now. Have the MOE system changed?  Yes, perhaps a little. So, it is fair to say that we are more relaxed and less hard-up with the grades but it does not mean we stop driving our kids to achieve better grades. Grades do not define our kids, we know that already.

Cousin works long hours until sleeping inside her car.........
No complaints, she loves her job.
Happy with work, happy with her income, happy with her cross-fit activities, happy with her christian life.

Boy Naughty

The Papa has no patience to coax him to go for piano class.
I am not home to talk to the boy.
He is slipping away from lessons and I would think he has wasted the opportunity to better himself.
Hope he comes to his senses soon. If not, I also don't know what to do with that little boy.
Don't blame me when he grows up and ask why didn't I press on.
=(

Tuesday in December

The Papa supposedly went for dinner and left the two of them at home, alone.
Turned out the Papa went for a drink at the pub, supposedly back in an hour but he must have forgotten himself and didn't come back till 830. It may seem like 830 isn't that late, but the kids were hungry and unsupervised.

There is no point for me to get stressed up although of course I am.
The thing to do is to manage the situation as best as I could.
I've told the Papa that in future, wait for me to reach home before he goes for his drinks.
Also, for Kiki to call me.
Also, for myself to just give a tinkle home every evening.

Clothes & Toy collection. Quite regularly.

 Where have I been!!!!
There are many resources for Compositions and I didn't make use of them.
Only just found out the assessment books at Popular Bookshop.
Kiki has done well overall except for both the Chinese and English Compositions.....
Well, it is not too late to have discovered these resource books.
So..... YAY!!!!  Rejoice, rejoice.

Found this bike with a pillion seat.
Cycled to the beach with Colin at the back.
Half the time thinking I ought to get him a kid's helmet.
So.... yah. I'll get him one.

Friyay

I would totally wear this but it is beyond my wardrobe price range.... $800+++
Including all the dresses I've browsed at Robinson's..... $400++ to $800++
Do I have to get real and be contented with simple clothing $120+++ ?
As the "self-help" guru proposes-- "You don't have a money problem, you have a skills problem"
Meaning, if I think my income is lacking, it means my skills are lacking.
That, alone, sounds risky & tiring.
Risky because I'll start looking out for mediums to invest for quick bucks; Tiring because it means I'll have to step-up my game / skills, and then risk spreading myself thinly over work & child rearing demands.

So, at the end of the day............. I try not to desire much.

 Hungry Friday Evening.

Randomly used a movie app-- Viki and came across a Singaporean movie - "Perfect Girl" (2014)
Just got to learn to put up with Ads since the movies comes free.

Where is this place? Some MacRitchie park or something?

Frequently on a Friday, there are news on the on-going social menace cases of loan sharking activities & police updates. This only goes to show how rampant the situation is, although some lucky folks are still very ignorant of the extent of harm done to foreign domestic helpers and their employers, as well as the repercussions it has on families and children of both sides of the equation. Not just the Singapore families but also the families and children back home, be it Indonesia or Philippines. No man is an island, when one world crashes, there are ripples.
