Hesitated to leave the restaurant before we even order our food as Kiki was getting restless and cranky. It was embarassing when you have a crying baby in public and all eyes are on you. Luckily she's cute and her little dog cap made the people smile instead of stare. I guess when you're cute, people are more forgiving (!) =P Nevertheless, we managed to handle the situation. Firstly, she looked out of the panel windows to the passerbys, then Wasi stood up to rock her in the sarong, then she fell asleep and the process repeated once. We had a nice lunch without further incident. This is a dry run as we'll be attending Val's wedding next Sunday. I really hope Kiki will be co-operative and be a nice little darling. Val is a very close friend and she dotes on Kiki so we're all attending. If not, I wouldn't bring a baby to a wedding cos they're so unpredictable. Wasi didn't eat her greens and I was upset. I told her many times not to waste food. She said it wasn't cooked and she doesn't like it. I said in future, if she doesn't want it she must inform me before she starts eating, so that I can take the portion of salad. I had assumed coming from a poor environment she'll be frugal with food at least. But it looks like preference took a front seat in this case. After lunch, we went for some browsing, but I ended up buying more clothings for Kiki. You won't believe how facinatingly cute they are. Oh, and two more pairs of shoes for moi, same design in two colours.

Responsive Smiles
Very hard to catch her smile.... when she sees the camera, she'll stop smiling and look at the camera probably trying to make sense of it. She smiles more to the daddy though I spend more time with her. (.....)
Cousin JY bought her this set of blue Tees cos she also feels that there shouldn't be sterotyping.
Playground
There are three playgrounds in our vicinity, this being the most popular as it is next to a coffeeshop. There is another one which has longer slides and another with different structure.
I can foresee Kiki having a great time at these playgrounds and I plan to bring Kiki to the playgrounds as often as I can. Running and climbing are such joy for a kid you know.
You can get a pre-schooler to do almost anything if you tell them the reward is outdoor playtime. That only goes to show how they desire it.

All Smiles
Domesticated
You know you've been domesticated when your heart aches when your sun-crisp clothings get drenched in a sudden downpour. That's the sign you've become Aunty. I've never used to fully empathize with aunties telling me - oh how their sun dried clothes got wet, until I go through weeks of washing, cleaning and regular chores. So far, it has been fun being a homemaker as I get to explore some culinary skills although it still takes me a rather long time to make dinner. Well, I should take heart that Brendan & Pam said the food was good, and my Aunt Helen was surprised that I could cook curry too. (with all those pre-mixed paste, who couldn't?!) But what I liked most about cooking is to play around with sauces & spices, as well as to put two unlikely items together; like I've spread garic butter onto wanton skin, fold them into triangular quarters then deep fry. It tasted so good, and it was an interesting dish too. I make Brendan guess what I've put inside but he couldn't guess it even after munching on five of them (!!!!!) Until I told him then he enjoyed the dish. (???) Well, I've always had a sharp tongue so I've always liked rich flavours.
Wasabi Prawns, Garlic Wanton, Lemon Juice for a dash of zest.

Went to Spotlight to buy yards of lace cloth, cut them up into regular pieces and clip them on the window grills. Saved me a couple of hundreds $$, laces could still let the light in while shielding prying eyes. Luckily the stuff told me about those ring clips, or I would be sewing stud buttons on the laces (silly idea!) If you're wondering how much the curtain cost, it's $60 for all ten panels of my windows.

Some babies are chubby, some are not.
My aunt LC bought Kiki a pair of rompers that is like two sizes bigger, made Kiki looked bigger than she really is. She looks comical in that big suit, I think she can wear it till 2.
Some mothers worry when the baby seems too chubby.
Conculsion: All mothers worry.
Advice to all mothers: Don't worry, your baby is just different and that's fine!
Kiki-Godma
Cousin JY is Godma to both Ryan & Kiki.
She's delighted to carry both of them in her arms and has posed like this a few times.
I hope she can manage this pose for another 5 years. Ha Ha.
We will make it a point to go GM's house once in a month. My cousins, aunts & uncles are there and they all dote on both little babies. I was very surprised that Kiki gurgled with my Godpa for a long time (about 10 mins!) The two of them were having a baby conversation with goo-goos and ah-ahs, it was very exciting for me to watch.

Vaccine #2
Today we had the second serving on vaccine 6-in-1
Kiki's paediatrician gushed about her dimples & fashionable clothings; she asked who in my family has dimples so deep. I told her my aunts have them and thanked her for the compliment. Kiki's dimples are mega magnets. Firstly, a baby is already a magnet; strangers stop to gush over her or say hello. Sometimes, they let out an exciting gush when her dimples show. It helps when people melts the ice and are friendly, for a mother who ironically is kind of reserved. Even our maid chats up more strangers than me. Well well well.....

Week 14 of 16
Very soon I will be returning to work. I wonder how do I adjust to the little time I'll have with Kiki. I guess that is life for a working mother in Singapore. Day starts early and by the time you get settled after dinner, shower and household chores, that leaves you little time with your tiny ones, either that or you're dead beat. Yet the government wants us women to work (and have more children). Of course, I gladly work because I need the money. Is there any government who pays for stay-home-moms? How about paying us our current salary and let us stay home for the first five years. How about that.
Somebody Help Me
One set for Hong Jing, one set for Kiki and the third one is for Wynelle (yet to find a matching pants). It is unlikely that they will all meet at the same time...
Can't stop buying!
Hong Jing's BD, Joo Joo's BD, and baby Wynelle is arriving by the end of the month. Hence, it's gifts, gifts & gifts. But I didn't stop there. There were slacks that are so nice! I love the colour green, hence it's a must-have. Then came the lacy ones, oh! so dainty, must-get! And lastly, a red pair, gathers at the side, must-grab! Tried convincing myself that these can be Kiki's CNY clothings. (As if!) Can't stop buying, somebody help me!

Regular Life
Kiki's nose-block cleared up pretty soon and the flu was just a mild one luckily.
But still, we will not be going to anywhere with mass crowd anytime soon.
This week, she's smiling more, especially when she sees our faces. =)
And there are more varied sounds that she makes now- hur, uur, eeu!
Some are even high pitched.
I'm sure she has a loud voice just like Bren & I.

Mini Celebration
Dainty B'gosh
She was right. The dress is meant for 9 to 12 months old but I'll like to have her wear it now.
Steph has also bought a puzzle toy and a fabric book for Kiki. We're thankful for all the toys and books, and clothings from everybody, be it new or used, they're greatly appreciated! Please do pass it 'round to me, we'll recycle the fun with your used stuff!

Cab Awaiting
Wasi & I were flagging for a cab after leaving my in-laws' place on Friday.
We had Li-ann visiting in the morning, Charmaine's BD cake cutting at noon, and were heading home as Adeline was visiting at 3. She bought Kiki something quite uncommon for a kid but I really liked it -- a silver pendant in the shape of a butterfly.
If you wonder why is Kiki wearing the same old frilly hat, it's because it gives shade and is practical on a very sunny day, although it may have cramped her stlye cos it looks dated to the seventies but well, for this instance, it is more important to be shaded cos the sun was burning hot.
73
Charmaine turned 28 on 3rd July.
She has celebral palsy and is unable to talk or comprehend.
She basically plays with her fingers and grinds her teeth.
However, we were very surprised that she showed excitement when she saw Kiki.
It is as if she knows it's a baby.
She propped herself up when Kiki came into her view. It was unusual and we were delighted with this seemingly small action.
Strawberry Bald Cake, Blueberry Pie.
She bought this pajamas suit which was meant for 6 to 12 months.
It has a funny-looking cap, I'll show you next time.
Footnote: Did you know that there's a baby to almost everything?
There's baby tweety and there's baby strawberry shortcake.
I wonder if there's a baby Austin Power.
Talk about product life extension.
Failed Attempt
My not-very-successful crepe.
I thought it was okay. I'll give it,,, four points out of ten.
Afterall, it was my first attempt.
But Brendan failed it.
Said it was too sweet.
It's not fair, cos he doesn't like nutella but I do.
But it was overall too buttery, and too thick.
I couldn't quite stomach it too. Ha ha.
Guess I won't be making much of these soon.

Flu Bug
We were supposed to do the second vaccine yesterday but the doctor advised against it as Kiki was having a flu she said. She asked if we've come in close proximity with someone having flu in the past 4 days. There was no one I knew except for a visitor boy who was having a runny nose. I guess I must really take care of Kiki as it appears that her immunity hasn't been built up yet. Given that she is a premature baby, the doctor said we have to be more vigilant and keep visitors at bay. Well, it is not very nice if I have to ask my visitors if they are in the pink of health or not. Some may even be hurt or offended.
I've administered the nose-drip medicine and sucked out the snort from her nose. It was greenish yesterday and had a strand of blood! Gosh, indeed it was an infection. Luckily today the snort has subsided and the colour was pale. For the rest of the day, it was extra TLC for Kiki, my baby.
